I admit the story felt like it had dragged on a bit. Other than that, the chapter with Mrs. Leverton’s notepad stuck with me. I needed it.

Beautifully written, and I understand the actions of the main character... But I really did not like her, and could not wait to finish the book and get out of her head.

I listened to this book on my recent long car trip. It was horrifying and disturbing, and I have no idea why I kept listening. Blech (to be mature).

At first I couldn't read it. The actions of Helen jar against even the idea that it is fiction. But picking it up to continue was worth it. It's not an easy read, but the further you go the more you can relate.

I didn't find this book quite as offensive as a lot of people did. I did want to take a shower after reading it (it's the story of a woman who kills her mentally ill mother, and she's not exactly a pleasant narrator), but I found myself oddly engrossed in it once I got past the scene of the murder.

This was such a disappointment after the amazing [b:The Lovely Bones|12232938|The Lovely Bones|Alice Sebold|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1457810586l/12232938._SY75_.jpg|1145090]. I would not give this one a second look -- but DO NOT MISS Lovely Bones despite the distressing premise.

I was kinda disappointed in this book...It was no where near as good as the lovely bones. I also was happy with the way it ended. All together in my opinion this was not the best Alice Sebold has done.

Written very nicely but super-weak plot. The first sentence grabs you but after that it completely falls apart and ends with you feeling incomplete.

I really didn't like this one. I usually dont go below 3 stars, but I had to here. After the lovely bones, I was excited to read the almost moon! I started this book, and read about 6 other books before finally coming back to it and finishing it.
The only reason I finished it was because I HATE leaving books half-read.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, the plot could have been interesting enough, but the main character was just not likable! At all! I would have been okay with a main character that I hated because I was supposed to hate her, but Helen was just... Blah.
The book just flat out disappointed me. I did not care for any of the other characters, and I especially did not care for the decisions Helen made. The entire time I was reading, I found myself wishing that she had just gone to the police and turned herself in directly after the crime. It would have made me happier!
