A young girl is murdered at a Halloween party. Later, witnesses remembered that earlier in the day, she had claimed to have observed a murder. This is not even close to Christie at her best, but it was entertaining enough to finish.

While this isn’t one of Christie’s most loved mysteries, and I do personally like some of her classics (And Then There Were None, Murder on the Orient Express, etc.) more, I still had fun reading it. The background characters get a bit monochromatic at points, but I enjoyed the interweaving of the town’s previous suspected murders into the plot. If you’re interested, the David Suchet adaptation gives a more compelling dimension to the characters involved in both the main story and side plots/red herrings and fixes the issues it has with pacing (it drags at the beginning and a bit in the middle. Those changes streamline what I think is a fundamentally enjoyable story.

This is not one of Christie's best.  The pace was slow and the characters--except for Poirot--were dull.  In fact, I languished through the book trying to grasp some appeal to the book's wide cast, but could stir none--not even for the murder victims.  Very mediocre.

TW: the murder victim in this one is a child.

Despite the death being overwhelmingly sad, this is one of Christie’s most clever books.

Her book just aren't my favourite books to read.
This book is a good read when it comes around to halloween time, or the fall time. I read this book during halloween and it was creepy and scary, but to be honest just not my kind of read.
Not my favourite Hercule read.
This book was also a little confusing until the end of the book.
I have another one of her books to read for Christmas because it is Christmas based book, so we will see how I like that book.
