3 stars for the mystery, 1 star for the marketing decision to change the book title to match the (very loosely related) movie.

A bold social commentary of the rise of violence as times (and people) grow insentive to it's woes - rather longing for the grotesque and shocking to rear it's ugly head. Questioning societies lack of regulations towards the reformation of/treatments to aid the mentally ill, and the systems which fail to assist them on a consistent basis.
As well as a sense of changing tides; a world moving outside of the ideas and experiences of the old. A new one, with standards and practices for a new generation, no longer applying to the same logic. Different opinions on sexualisation, freedom of expression, conformation to the norms usually employed, or aversion to things once tabooed. All changed.
Filled to the brim with overt religious and mythological allegories - Greek and Bibilical. Christie tells her most important story - one unlike it's predecessor's. Instead of telling a murder mystery simply, it takes a backseat and becomes a vehicle to tell the broader narrative aforementioned above.
I feel comfortable in stating this as my favourite work of hers. Both positively thrilling and equally thought provoking. A clever story to consume and mull over.

Unfortunately, I've been a bit sloppy with my participation in the #ReadChristie2023 Challenge over the past few months. I didn't get around to actively participating again until September, so I was really looking forward to getting back into reading intensively with one of my absolute favourite authors.
And what better book to pick for the month of October than "Hallowe'en Party"?
Having already seen the film "A Haunting in Venice", I was even more interested in reading the book. You can look at it positively or negatively, but you almost don't spoil yourself at all with the film adaptation, as only some names and the basic setting were included. The rest is completely different.
I liked this novel very much. The revelation of the murderer was kind of anti-climax and the suspense fluctuated a bit through the plot, but nonetheless, it was a pleasure to read this book. I even had a good laugh at some points.
So make sure to put this book on your #TBR for the next #SpookySeason!

Great story. A little repetitive but came through at the end. I would recommend this book to others and is a great fall read. I will continue reading AgathaChristie!
