3.5

One of my least favorite Poirot novels. Nothing wrong with it, but nowhere near Christie's best. My favorite part was the garden descriptions.

It was alright. Like in Third Girl, I could feel Christie's disdain for modern society and young people. Oh, how times have changed.

'yes, it's something else. You die so that others should live. You die so that beauty should live. Should come into being. That's the important thing.'

This book was a 5/5 stars in my opinion! Agatha Christie's books keep me on the edge of my seat, and I always want to continue reading so I can find out who did what in her books. She always adds crazy plot twists and page turners, which really shocks you, and catches you off guard, which I like too, because I would have never guessed those things.

I read this for a book club, and it was so fun reading this together. It's a great book to read during Halloween season, and a great book club idea. You can even use this as a buddy read book, which is also super fun. I think that reading a book from her with someone else, makes it that much more enjoyable.

Overall 5/5 stars, and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes cozy murder mysteries!

This was the first novel I've read for Agatha Christie. I remember the first time was in my firs language (Arabic), since then, the story (and case) held a special place in my heart for it had started my journey with Christie's world of investigations and mystery.

The story is captivating in a way that fascinates the reader and keeps them intrigued with the developments and events. It invites the reader to think and try solving the case alongside Poirot.

The story follows the murder of the child Joyce at a halloween party that Ms Oliver was invitedto. When the murder occurs, Ms.Oliver calls for Mr. Poirot whom she met in a previous case of his. There are many cruel cases with cold blooded murderers. Yet, the cases with child murderers always seems to be more heartless.

What I was not a fan of was the long detailed descriptions and talks despite the fact that I know that they are usually necessary in crime novels to help explain or to solve the case and clarify what happened better. Sadly though, it was not my cup of tea, but other than that I have no complains and this is one of my favorite novels of Agatha Christie.
