I was apprehensive to read this book at first due to it noting “for fans of Piranesi…”. Did not care for that book but this one was slightly better. At first, it was quite different and interesting but the longer it went on, the more bored I became. It took forever to get through and the ending was meh.

Reading this book gave me the same feeling I would get when I read books as a child: the excitement, the feeling of attachment to the characters, the feeling of being taken away to a different world. It's rare for a book to make me feel that way as an adult. This was a book that made me forgo sleeping (as books often did when I was a kid). I didn't want it to end, and once it did, I wanted to start it all over again.
