This was fine, but everything from the world to the characters to the plot fell flat for me. The mysterious atmosphere was well done, so if you’re a vibes reader, this will probably work better for you than it did me.

I had a feeling I was going to enjoy this book but I wasn't prepared for how quickly I would be caught up in the characters, the environment, and the journey itself. The atmosphere that Brooks created within the Wastelands and our train was phenomenal and I found each of the characters POVs just as interesting as the next - I truly couldn't pick a favorite; the voices were so unique and provided such different perspectives on the Wastelands, The Company, and the train.

Definitely loved the concept of this more than the execution, as I felt like the actual story was a bit of a slog in places. But some components of the world building were just so fun, and made me want to run a D&D campaign set on the train!
