Trippy, morbid, and my particular weakness: biological horror, all set within the addictive world of the Victorian steam train. The vibes were immaculate, although the ending left something to be desired, it seemed to trail off as the author had backed herself into a corner a little bit and seemed too set on giving everyone a happy ending.

Strange and lovely and unsettling

In this speculative mystery, crew of a a Trans-Siberian train barreling through a terrifying and unforgiving wild land struggles to remember what happened on their last journey while trying to corral their current passengers.

This Trans-Siberian Express links Moscow with Beijing and like its real-world counterpart, it’s a luxurious experience with beautifully appointed cabins for those who can afford it (third class get the cramped bunks at the back).  The train outside is multiple stories high and very ornate.  A map is included of the train which is very interesting.
I enjoyed this fantasy/magical realism historical fiction.  It was more of a slow read for me as I wanted to soak in all the wonderful descriptive writing.  I enjoyed the journey on the train and certainly wished it had lasted a bit longer!
