the best part of this book was complaining to my bff about how bad it was the whole time i was reading it. it's like leigh bardugo took every single plot she was considering for her more extended alex stern series and shoved them all into one bloated, poorly paced, unbelievable mess of a book.

were there fun bits? sure. the descent was cool! i would still die for darlington! but my god, this was a disaster. two stars only because it was somehow compulsively readable, but i'm extremely disappointed by this one. what a shame.

i really should rate this a 3 because not that much happens in the grand scheme of things BUT the writing is beautiful and i love demon darlington and those are things i cannot ignore
