As a lover of fashion, a former blogger and a “gray hair”, I throughly enjoyed this book. Not a thought provoking life changing book- but fun and observational.
I'm of two minds with this one. On the one hand, it's delightful and I loved Imogen and Ashley and Erin and Rashid so much. Nice to read about ambitious, fun, fabulous and kind people. Loved the insider eye on the fashion world. Appreciated that Imogen grew and learned and also that her love life wasn't a plot point - hurrah for functional relationships in fiction! But on the other hand, this was all sort of toothless. Eve was such a villainous character, even getting chapters from her POV didn't help make her more than two dimensional. And when the villain has so few shades of grey, something suffers in the story I think - I prefer when you can see everyone's side, to some extent. Also, despite Eve's villainy, Imogen never really suffers irreparably does she? She always gets the upper hand and there's never any real suspense that Eve will win. Part of me would have preferred higher stakes to really make Imogen struggle, rather than surrounding her with endlessly supportive and helpful people. But another part of me is glad she didn't suffer too much. So, mixed feelings.
I loved this book - it was so much fun and just on the edge of old-school Judith Krantz/Olivia Goldsmith trashy. The fashion! The backstabbing! The hilarious app names!
funny book. a lot of people are negative in their review saying the main character seemed older and her lack of tech savvyness didn't ring true. it was a little exaggerated, but the description of Eve's behavior and attempts to make Imogene feel bad ring absolutely true! a fun read.
I wasn't sure if I was going to finish this, but every time I put it down I realized how much I had read in such a short period of time and kept at it. I did enjoy it. The various characters were at least interesting if not always relateable (although I did grow to like Imogen very much).
There were all these little possible subplots that got mentioned and then never resolved! Examples: It confused/bothered me.
And, I totally guessed way early on that

The designer that Eve silenced; the fancy photographer's contract; how well Imogen's fashion week review went; #Salefie (didn't Imogen, through Rashid, own the main website here? Did it eventually get integrated into Shoppit?); Alex's case/career; Annabel's self esteem; Andrew and Imogen kissing that one time (did she tell Alex? was there a fall-out? In this book where most of the morale is obviously to not be completely wedded to your devices, didn't anybody SEE them? WHY wasn't Imogen worried about that when it happened?), etc, etc. There were all these potentially juicy plot-points to get into and none of them got followed up on.And, I totally guessed way early on that

Candy Cool was sociopathic Eve. She is the worst.
Loved it! I seriously hope a movie is in the works!
The story's a bit too predictable. Enjoyed it nevertheless.
However I hate how Imogen's such a pushover, she's supposedly a strong, powerful, and well-known editor in chief, why would she let Eve treat her that way??

As a Gen X, I really liked this book. It reminded me of the tv show Younger.
