3.56 AVERAGE

One of the best books I have read in a LONG time. Brilliantly written and frightening in its accuracy and depiction of up-and-coming millennials. I want to recommend it to everyone so I can talk about it!

I would have given it a 3.5, bumped up to 4. I liked the premise of this book and the issues it tried to address. It took me a bit to get into it though, but worth a read/listen to.

This was so addictive! I hated Eve so much she really was a robot in terms of how she behaved of course.
The things she done to a frigging child though. If I was Imogen I would not have had the patience she had especially when Eve did something as vindictive as she did to Imogen’s child.
Considering one of these women are basically a psychopath and the other one is recovering from cancer AND is older and is learning all about technology and how to integrate it into the new world.

This novel may be 8 years old but it felt like it was about today’s day and age as tech keeps changing and evolving. But the whole thing about young people wanting to overwork? Ha no. I hardly believe that is true. If anything the latest generation are all about working from home and mindfulness.

I found it so interesting yet at the same time I was annoyed at the bad characters and a few other things. During Imogen’s chapters it can be very annoying as she rambles on so much. It was not necessary to go on about every single person her character has encountered and give a big long backstory about them which wastes time.

It was an interesting and worthy read that made me contemplate life as well.

Compelling enough to keep me reading. One point I can't quite understand: The main character is supposed to be 42 in 2015. Can a 42-year-old really be such a tech Luddite?

Cute beach/lazy weekend read. There were funny parts but after a while the main characters became annoying. Not a book to take too serious, but cute filler.

Easy summer/beach read- not fabulous but kept my attention nonetheless!

This book was just what I needed to get my out of my June reading rut! The Knockoff was like The Devil Wears Prada but in reverse. It over exaggerates the weird obsession that millennials have with technology, being right, and taking over the world. Now I don't want to disparage my entire generation, but sometimes we really are the worst.

Eve - she was the worst! The overall issue though is that she really didn't have any idea who she was, what her place was in the world, or how she should relate to the world.

Imogen was the perfect lead though. She showed up for her life, took advantage of the opportunities to learn, and leaned into where she needed to be. She's the hero of this story - and was a great example to anyone who walks into a TechB Boss like Eve. "Kill 'em with kindness" is still great advice!

I couldn't get through this book... I stopped 40% through. It was boring and a wannabe Devil Wears Prada

“Have we all become so desperate to share everything that we’ve stopped enjoying our lives?”

I enjoy a good satire. This didn’t have me LOLing quite as much as their other collaboration, Fitness Junkie, but it was still smart and clever. This pokes fun at techie millennials, social media, and ageism but also hits a lot of positive notes. It’s a good palate cleanser.

Good, fun read. A tad over the top at times, and there is a tech mistake or two (says the nerd) but I enjoyed it. And it’s good for a fist-pump if you’re a non-millennial in the media business (which I am). #TeamImogen.
