a friend of mine recommended me this book and as she writes stories herself, i decided to read what she enjoyed and i wasn't disappointed at all

- i really liked how the story is built - reflects the skill of story telling of the author and oh god, i was really amazed to not feel lost with what's happening. it's not in chronological order (the way we expect it, from present to future - am i clear, probably not), we follow noah at 13 and his twin sister jude at 16 and making the link between the two of them was smooth, like, it wasn't a struggle to find out what was going on? i say this because i absolutely hate with a burning passion stories where there is a switch of povs (like, i really hate it for some reason, probably because of poorly written fanfics i was traumatised i feel like it's breaking the flow of the story and ugh, i usually don't like? but it was okay for this one)

- the ending felt a bit rushed, especially with the relationship between noah & brian, like i wish it were more developed as with jude & oscar

- i mostly enjoyed the book thanks to the author's storytelling skill, like wow *chef kiss*

I found the characters extremely frustrating, but the overall plot was well thought out and gave a satisfying ending.

Jude and Noah are inseparable. They know everything about each other. At 13 they start to grow apart. Noah is the quiet one and Jude is the outgoing one partying with all the boys. At 16 everything is different.

I think this novel was really good for what it was. The characters were interesting and very believable. The two twins telling different timelines was an interesting twist. I preferred Jude's story slightly more and the dealing with grief afterwards, as opposed to Noah's before.

I can see why it's really popular. The writing was beautiful. Personally, I was annoyed by Noah's perspective at times and him constantly talking about artists. It came across rather pretentious to me.

4/5 stars.
If you like contemporaries or character driven novels this is a great one to pick up. I enjoyed it, but I don't think it has enough for adults who don't enjoy reading YA.
