2.5, I wanted to like this so much more than I did. It had the makings of a great graphic novel, but just didn't make it there

My students check this one out all the time and now I see why. Fast-paced, witty and interesting. Lots to enjoy!

Grades 5 and up.

The illustrations in this book are stunning, but the overall plot lacked for me.

Monsters. Good vs evil. London.

Story: Monsters are roaming freely all over historic London and Scarlett Hart and her butler Napoleon are here to save the day.

Language : A hot mess. The book never clearly states the setting or time, the main character uses strange slang and the art comes across completely inconsistent, with body shapes out of proportion, features over inked and amateurish.

Characters: Scarlett is young (who knows how old?) and is spunky but almost everyone seems to like her. Napoleon cares mostly about his car and is very one dimensional.

Unlikable characters, plot all over the place, inconsistent unfinished art. Pass.

This was cute for a kid’s book. I think it might have been better as a short series with each of the monsters as a single issue instead of trying to cram all the stuff into one book and it falling flat.

This is definitely for middle grade kids and it wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t great.

Thought the cover looked interesting on this one so I requested it on Netgalley. I really it in a day and would be happy to continue with the series. It was a fun read, I think it needed a little more character build but overall fun. I loved Scarlett and the idea of her being a young (which isn’t allowed) monster hunter. The graphics in the novel were ok pretty good for an ARC, not sure if that would be the final art but even if not I liked it.

This was a fun read, it’s good for YA and adult, I think it could even be good for tweens. I really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading more of this series. Totally recommend.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my review.

Has flaws (story, art, lettering and editing) but still a lot of fun and I enjoyed it.

It's a decent start to a series for younger readers. It's very action-y. Personally, I could've done with a wee bit more exposition, but I'm not exactly the target audience.
