Very funny for most of it - but that's are definitely cringey parts and I need to remember that it was written in 2011. Lots has changed since then!

I read this book because StoryGraph told me my selections had been too heavy lately. I like Mindy! There are a lot of funny jokes and cute moments in here. But this book was so consistently fatphobic that it was really hard for me to enjoy the parts that weren't about her relationship with dieting, exercise, and body image. She also used a slur for transgender people, probably thinking it was endearing... not great. This book was published over a decade ago. I can't imagine having my own comedic musings published to exist in the public eye for eternity. Like anyone, she totally deserves the space to evolve, and no doubt, she has (since I haven't heard anything about her actually being a terrible person). I hope she has a healthier relationship with food and her body now, too.
