Once again a fantastic read from King and one where King's storytelling prowess is on full display, as he masterfully weaves together elements of fantasy, horror, and Western genres. The character development is exceptional, with each member of Roland's new group bringing a unique set of skills and personality quirks. The dynamic between the characters adds depth and emotional resonance to the narrative, making readers genuinely invested in their fates.

Really the massive “set-up” novel King probably expects us to get over with before all of his real fantasy shenanigans begin. Though having our base characters introduced like this was kinda cool, spending a lot of time with each in their respective times and whatnot. But it makes me thing that this is exactly just a stepping stone of what’s to come. Also very unimpressed with how not fantasy this was. Seriously, I want to read a Stephen King western/fantasy novel. Not be stuck in NYC for 75% of it…
