My dark romance girly heart ate this up. Now Sin is insane and so is Elli. After reading so much fantasy this was exactly what I needed because it was so unhinged and *chefs kiss* (yes I am in therapy)
So much happened in such a short amount of time and even though most (if not all of this book) is based on miscommunication (my least favorite tope) but in this story I felt like it worked the best because the plot relied on each character having the least amount of information while believing that they understood everything, except Elli, she really knew next to nothing this whole time. I liked how it also kinda played set up for some of the next books like Carnage and such. There were some plot twists that I did not see coming especially about Elli's dad and the break in at her house. I do wish that after we got Sin's letter they were apart for longer because it felt like Elli read it and got Sin back the same day. So while the stakes were there I felt like we, the reader, could've sweated more about it. Even though we knew they were going to get the HEA, which I appreciate as a dark romance reader. I also like the fast forward that we get at the end of the book because it feels like we might get a 2nd Gen series eventually.
Overall, I enjoyed this and am excited to continue the series with Tyson's story.

PLEASE CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS⚠️
I definitely liked the plot twists and turns in this one a lot more than The Ritual...BUT....I just couldn't connect with the story as much.
I am not a big fan of Sin. Don't get me wrong, the guy 100% loved Elli and did what he thought was right to protect her. He just could've done a lot of things differently. Always mad about Elli coping with her emotions the only way she knew how but he was the cause of a lot of it.
Elli on the other hand...I just wanted to rip her out of the book, give her a giant hug and tell her that she isn't worthless. That she matters. All the trauma she went through was absolutely horrible. And although it did cause her to have unhealthy coping mechanisms, the fact that she was strong enough to keep going says it all.
All in all, loved this and can't wait to read the rest of the series!
