I liked the plot and concept of this - and I think it will turn out to be a good movie. I liked how it tied in with a lot of previous things that have been done on Mars (like Pathfinder). But I was not a fan of the writing at all. Not only was it a lot of math and science, but it also read like a college student wrote it - lots of cheesy and short sentences. It made it hard for me to feel like I was there with the character and rooting for him.

I couldn't put this book down, it was really a page-turner. It kept me up at night, both reading and thinking about it. I would have given it 5 stars, but to be honest, I skimmed through a lot of Watney's math explanations.

This book was awesome. It reminded me of Apollo 13, which is one of my favorite movies. There is some cursing but otherwise it's a clean read. It was a very engaging, on the edge of your seat type of story (though I did skim through some of the science and math calculation stuff). And this totally needs to be a movie
