I was really excited about this book because of Tik Tok hype prior to the February release. I am not caught up on the drama surrounding The Night & Its Moon, though I will do my due diligence following this review. Overall this book was okay, I believe the series has the potential to be great. This book was a lot of backstory and build up, really setting up the second book well. This perspective comes from my general interest in romance over fantasy.

I saw the controversy around this author being an internet bully and got curious so I tried to see what her book is about since I've also seen some of her tiktoks...
This book was.... not for me.

The beginning was slow for me. The repeated grammatical errors brought me down. The POC got the short end of the stick through much of beginning/middle.

I read the indie self published version. I own the professionally edited one but I haven’t read that yet.

Amaris and Nox are best friends torn apart during childhood. Nox spends her whole life trying to get back to Amaris. Amaris spends her whole life training. Just when they find each other all hell breaks loose. The book ends on a cliffhanger.

This is one of my favorite books!

I love the world building and character development. I love that there is a warrior strong and then also a sexy strong. Yes, that’s how I would describe the main ladies.
There aren’t very many throw away characters in the book which I also like. The names you learn are important to the story.

It also came with a beautiful map and a pronunciation guide, which is amazing!! All others with hard to pronounce names should do this. She has a full menu to go with it too. I don’t care if it only took her 6 days to write it. It was her passion and she put her all into it and I think you can really tell she truly loves these characters. I can’t wait for the next one.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars, even with any grammatical errors because I loved the story that much. I didn’t even notice mistakes because I was so enthralled with this book. I can not wait to read the rest of the series.

These books are rated mature because there is some spice and also f/f sexual activity. I would not recommend that a super religious person or a child read this. This book is for open minded adults.

Really the only negative thing I have to say is that the second book isn’t out yet. I loved everything about this book.
