Best of the group so far. Writing style is still annoying, but less so in this volume. Good development, good twists, and I absolutely loved the reference to wheel of time's Asmodean.

Zoomed through this one- just as great as all the past ones, and loved the new characters!

While this book was still enjoyable, this has been my least favorite of the Alcatraz books so far. In each book, Alcatraz tries to convince the author of something in order to disprove all the stories of his heroics and what an amazing person he is. In the first three books, he tries to convince the reader that he is either, a bad person, a liar, or incredibly arrogant. Those views were all fine and could be funny at times. In this book, he tries to convince you that he is stupid. This annoyed me at times. Also, the main character was forced to grow up a little bit in this book and therefore it was a bit more serious. I would still recommend the series (if you like middle-grade fantasy/comedy), and definitely don't stop in the middle!
