As a Strict Scrutiny listener, I knew I had to read this one. I find Litman to have excellent analysis of the Supreme Court and their rulings on the podcast and expected nothing less from this book. And I got what I expected! Litman weaves a record of how the Supreme Court has systematically reversed previous court decisions with a great deal of research and many cited resources. I don't have a strong background regarding law or historical Supreme Court decisions and Litman makes everything understandable and easy to process without feeling like she is "talking down" to us. The only thing that didn't hit home for me were the pop culture references. Litman makes references to certain TV shows or musicians, and they just weren't shows or people I am overly familiar with. It didn't disrupt my reading, but the references just didn't hit for me. For anyone who is a fan of this shows and musicians, it would definitely add some whimsey and outside reference to your reading. Even though these didn't all connect for me, I appreciated Litman's ability to add some humor to a heavy subject.

I am familiar with this author through the podcast Strict Scrutiny. She has fantastic insight and opinions. This book was very informative and gave a good amount of background of the court that I wasn't familiar with.
I enjoyed the book, but I think the audio format wasn't the best for me. I probably would have rated it higher if I had read a paper copy of this.

4⭐️ This was informative and engaging. Litman does a good job of explaining the legal aspects of what she’s taking about to non-lawyers. I don’t think this book is for people who have paid close attention to politics, especially the Supreme Court, but for people who are looking to learn about this topic, this is a great choice.

The book is great! The content is…horrifying. What’s happening is awful.
