My friend Kerri gives Jeremiah the best books.

Mouse and Rabbit are good friends, full of adventure. Rabbit is a good friend, with terrible ideas. So, when Mouse's plane gets stuck in a tree, he enlists the help of a lot of animals to help. Really, really heavy animals.

Rabbit is much stronger than he appears.

There are a lot of textless pages, which made telling the story even more fun, and allowed for Jeremiah to help tell the story with me. And the image of all of the animals piled on top of each other made both of us laugh.

Definitely one of those, "Okay, let's start it over" books.

Woah. My nephew (3 years) LOVED this! I sometimes associate Caldecott winners with less interesting, more educational books, but he was all over this! The only reason we only read it twice in a row was because I had a stack of other books I suggested we try. I'll certainly be on the lookout for this at library sales (as I rarely buy new).

Mouse's friend, Rabbit, always gets in trouble, but he always has a solution. Whether that solution is more or less trouble....

The situation that develops is delightfully absurd, sending my nephew into gales of laughter. There's few words, so encourage your child to describe what's happening. That's what got my nephew really going.

The artwork is original and certainly worthy of a Caldecott win. Rohmann did an amazing job, all the more impressive for being both author and illustrator in an industry that often has the jobs split up. 100% give it a try from your local library, and certainly pick it up if you're lucky enough to find it used. And likely if you find it new!

Didn't really hold 2 yr old C's interest. May be better for older kids.

I loved the artwork. It's a great book for beginning readers and toddlers being read to. It has little text and is quite humorous.

Block print illustrations are always striking and these are brightly colored and expressive as well. The story itself, however, doesn't grab me. Mouse narrates the story of Rabbit, his friend whose best intentions always end in trouble.

Great illustrations. Great book about loyalty + friendship

Preschool - Bunny Storytime

Really enjoyed the illustrations with their bold black outlines, even the pages themselves are outlined with thick, confident black lines, which I though added an extra element of uniqueness to the artwork.

Rabbit and Mouse are best friends, but Rabbit always seems to get into trouble. This book is full of humor and illustrations that help tell the story independently of the text. Readers will enjoy watching Rabbit get into crazy shenanigans. Cute.

For: readers who always seem to get themselves into trouble, even though they mean well; readers looking for a funny book.

Possible red flags: characters in peril.
