Some have reviewed this book as a dupe of Throne of Glass. I can see where they think that but this book is so much more. For one, it went a bit faster. The world building wasn’t as big but there was still some. Kierse is your FMC and Graves (Brannon) is your MMC. Prey and predator. Kierse grows up not knowing her parents and she is taken in and taught the ways of being a thief working for monsters. Graves IS a monster who finds her and discovers her powers but doesn’t disclose what he knows. Graves needs her for a heist. The story unfolds when they run into the underworld King and have to wait until winter solstice to steal the spear. Great story with MANY twists and turns of characters like the Druid Lorcan and Kierse’s friends Gen and Ethan who get caught up in everything only to discover, they are just like Kierse. I can’t wait to read book 2!

I LOVE A PICKPOCKET PROTAGONIST. Give me all the little thieves, I'll root for them every time!! Kierce is no exception, she is confident and kickass and way more than she appears to be. Following her as she attempts to pull off the heist of her lifetime was EXHILARATING. I cannot wait to see her story unfold with Graves and Lorcan. UGH SWOON!!!! -Shelby

As someone who has experienced the joyous wonder of spending any length of time in Ireland, this book’s concept of mixing modern day fantasy with Celtic mythology spoke to my soul.

Linde manages to weave a captivating story that draws you in, while leaving you with even more questions. With characters who are as diverse as modern day NYC, there’s sure to be a new book boyfriend/girlfriend found in these pages. I love the mixture of modern day New York City, a war that has left the world completely changed, a leader rising from the underworld with a savior complex, and Celtic mythology. It blends beautifully into a world that you can see; maybe hitting a little closer to home than most find comfortable. But what is the point of fictional fantasies if not to bring help us face our discomfort in a setting with little to no personal risk?

If you enjoy any of the modern day romantasies involving mythology, this book is an absolute must read. It is worth mentioning that there are many references to abuse and trauma that may be triggering for some. While at times the story can be predictable for some readers, the magic of the storytelling is strong enough to keep you coming back to devour more.

I found the Wren in the Holly Library to be intriguing and interesting. I liked the mythical story telling woven into the plot. I only gave it a 4 star because the way the story flows, it was kind of obvious to tell, early on, which characters were actually part of the mythical stories that the FMC, Kierse, would read. I def got vibes from the book that took parts from various other books. Like Throne of Glass and True Blood. Possible spoiler here but there was something about this book that had me already guessing what she was. And I was right lol. I do want to continue the series!
