This book was not really my cup of tea. I enjoy Jackson’s descriptions and writing style but the stories of utter chaos and disrespect were making my skin crawl.

Adored this short memoir. This is Jackson’s first memoir and it was so incredibly fun to spend time within these pages, within her mind and life. She is so funny, witty, and observant. There is an extensive use of dialogue in this memoir which, along with the cadence of the narrative, made the book read like short fiction tales.
A loving tribute to the joys and trials of motherhood and her love for her kids.

I like Shirley Jackson’s writing. She’s sharp and funny.
But god how bored I often was reading about what her kids wore and what her kids ate.
