I loved this! The artwork was brilliant and I liked the contrast of black and white colour. The story was funny and heartwarming, especially weaving the fantasy with the bureaucracy was cleverly done.

This book is so freaking good, I’m already thinking of friends that I want to gift this to! The social and societal commentary is absolutely brilliant—from colonialism to mental health and personal ethics. And the lore and details are so rich and imaginative.
There are three main sub-plots and each story is so necessary in its own way. I know many reviewers prefer Shawqia (and I agree her part of the story is gut-wrenching) but my personal gem was Nour. I was also laughing so much at the result of the last wish.
There’s a quote in the back of the book saying „Deena Mohamed has much to say about the human condition, but she does so with effortless grace.“ and I think that sums it up perfectly. Do yourself a favour and read the absolute gem that is Shubeik Lubeik!
