"The Things We Do to Our Friends" is a captivating psychological thriller that delves into the complexities of female friendship, betrayal, and the ruinous power of secrets. Heather Darwent's expert use of an unreliable narrator and nonlinear storytelling creates an engrossing, disquieting atmosphere that keeps readers questioning well beyond the final page.

Readers who appreciate classic works like "Lord of the Flies" will enjoy the novel's exploration of the darker aspects of human nature, while the inventive twists and turns, reminiscent of postmodernism and the art surrealism movement, will keep you engrossed. This is not your typical thriller—it's a daring, intricate narrative that challenges assumptions and expectations, blurring the line between victim and villain.

However, this book may not be for everyone. It takes time to delve into and can be a bit gruesome with dark subject matter. However, if you're seeking a thought-provoking, mind-chilling read that leaves you questioning everything, "The Things We Do to Our Friends" is highly recommended.
