Very good towards the end, the pace really speeds up but overall a very average attempt at the secret history. However, it does pose a lot of interesting questions about narration technique, female rage and toxic female friendships that I found both relatable, and poignant.

This surpassed my expectations given that it’s a debut novel and one I just picked up on a whim from the library, but it’s an interesting quick-reading story of a cult-like friendship that goes wrong. I didn’t rate it higher mainly because it feels very similar in vibe to “The Secret History.”

This book started off well with lots of promise but after about the first third descended into utter drivel!

Would make a lovely movie or Netflix series but as a book, it’s got a little too much going on.
2.5 stars. Not the best dark academia. Lots of foreshadowing/mentions of the plot, and very British, but the "twist" was expected and uninteresting.
