an enjoyable enough insomnia read with a strong narrative voice in the character of Lucy Barton.  I ended up feeling similarly to how I felt about My Name is Lucy Barton (I haven't read Anything is Possible).  kind of underwhelmed?  it's a pleasant read that flows well; Strout is great at using simple but effective prose.  I just think I haven't really connected or cared too much about any of the characters in these books.

I'll undoubtedly read more from Elizabeth Strout when I can't sleep, though -- her books seem to engage me on just the right level where I won't get too stressed, I might fall asleep, and the writing is straightforward enough to follow in a sleep-deprived state.  I swear this is a compliment.

Not much happens in this book plot-wise, but it is the narrators revelations and perspectives of those around her that kept me engaged and wanting to read more. I felt like i really was inside her mind at times, understanding and uncovering truths around her as she was. I think this book is incredibly well written.

this was an easy breezy read. I was grabbed by the exploration of grief in a relationship and found it moderately comforting to read about an older relationship - so much felt relevant despite age and lived experience, and I think the way she wrote about relationships layering and the demystification of people being solidly what you think was comforting. Im glad it was in the little library.

Add usual, a reflective, challenging, thought provoking book from Stout. Her writing style feels so evocative of the character so she really shows by the way she tells, I guess? Very quick read, slowly paced.
