Batgirl of Burnside is a hipster millennial whose life is entwined with tech. She's studying library science at Burnside University while trying to figure herself out. I love the fun and bright super detailed dynamic art and the way modern (to me, normal) communication like texts and social media posts fit into the panels and storyline, and the casual relaxed friendships Barbara has. This take on Babs won't be for everyone but it is for me. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the stories were a little simple. Hopefully the storylines step up in the following volumes.

A friend recommended this book, so I grabbed it for my winter break pile. I found the artwork to be really neat--- and the storyline was readable. I wasn't head over heels with it, but it kept me entertained and guessing.
Batgirl moves in with a friend and starts to work on her thesis project, but someone is hacking computers and stealing information and programs, including the algorithm she created for her thesis. She suits up--- sometime with Black Canary, sometimes on her own to track down the scammer while also dating a police officer who does not like Batgirl. The story was not earth shattering and I am still not sure I understand what happened completely, but it was interesting and I would continue with this series.
Read: if you enjoy the Bat World and want to escape Gotham for a bit.

So good! Really enjoyed the art style and how Barbara "Babs" was a college student not like some kid in high school. The true "villain" of the story was pretty interesting I think I may have known a little but was pleasantly surprised to find out just who exactly was pulling the strings. I look forward to volume 2.

I loved the art style in this book it was very colorful and different. I have to say this comic was a little confusing as to who the villain was because everythime Babs caught the bad guy they said she she told them to do it. In the end it was Babs past self in a computer. Babs had to face her own demons. I also how this featured Dinah and her band which was nice. Overall good comic and will definitely try to continue the series.

i liked the theme a lot “how social media affects superheroes also vanity and what not” but the characters were a little bit flat, the last 3 issues were really good but I didn't like how the plot was handled. it's like it was made for children..

After watching "Captain Marvel," I decided to try to get back into comics again. This is the new version(?) of Batgirl. It recently started, so I figured why not. Plus it's lighter than the Batgirl comics before this with "Death in the Family" (I think it's called) and all that stuff.
This volume has separate stories that ties into one big storyline. It is a huge departure from the past Batgirl comics, but I like this version. The artwork is great and the style matches the new stories being told. I don't know when this is suppose to be taken place, but the artwork gives me a little of "Totally Spies" feel(I adored that show).

3.5*

Well, that basically just replaced the awesomeness that Gail Simone's arc featured in spades with annoying social media references. Definitely a downturn from what was one of the best New 52! books.

Art is stunning, story and characters are awful. Had me literally rolling my eyes. Not a good first batgirl comic...
