I really enjoyed reading this book by this author. However, I enjoy all books by DBrown.
Romanzo dell'autore del più famoso Codice Da Vinci, personalmente ampiamente sopravvalutato, anche perchè anni prima Umberto Eco aveva ventilato le stesse ipotesi nel Pendolo di Focault e nessuno aveva gridato al capolavoro (o allo scandalo).
Questo è il terzo libro che leggo dell'autore e quello che mi è piaciuto di più, mentre Angeli e Demoni lo metterei al secondo posto.
Il romanzo può piacere, e anche molto, una trama bella piena di pericoli, suspance e gente che proprio non vuole morire.
Un appunto al romanziere mi sento di farlo, seguace di Clive Cusserl nello scrivere di protagonisti che sono immortali, diciamo che a volte esagera proprio e come dice il mitico Onas: "...saltare da un elicottero in fiamme appeso al telone di protezione e atterrare giusto giusto sull'isola tiberina mi pare veramente eccessivo...", un po' come salvarsi da tre killer navy seals, precipitare su un iceberg, venire salvati da un sommergibile nucleare che incrocia da quelle parti, continuare a sfuggire ad un elicottero e scappare da un sommergibilino che sta affondando su una nave da ricerca che staziona sopra un vulcano marittimo in eruzione circondata da pesci martello, che vuoi che sia, il tutto in due giorni....
Già, Rachel Sexton è una vera sborona alla Dirk Pitt per capirsi, ma a me piace molto più Dirk Pitt (personaggio di Clive Cussler), che almeno fa direttamente l'agente del governo e non millanta titoli accademici di vario tipo come la protagonista di questo libro o il Dott. Langdom (protagonista degli altri due), portato sullo schermo niente popodimeno che da Forrest Gump - questo vorrà pur dire qualcosa no?
Torniamo a questo libro, che comunque non ha il solito personaggio principale, ma una donna bella, intelligente e di adamantio, sarebbe perfetta per Wolverine, peccato non legga i fumetti, unica cosa divertente è la trovata di farsi la pipì addosso per fuggire agli squali, me la devo ricordare, avvistano un sacco di pescioloni nell'adriatico.

Surprised to see this one rated so poorly, guess that comes with the territory given Brown’s popularity though.
I dig Dostoevsky, I worship DF Wallace- but every now and then ya need a beach book, a page turner, and Brown seems the best of ‘em to my mind. I’ve been on a thriller kick in general lately, and 95% of the time there’s a problem with the writing, the characters, or there’s a glaring plot hole. I didn’t have that experience with this one. Ya you know twists are coming, but they still managed to surprise me. Ya it’s formulaic and a bit shallow, who cares? If you’re the type that just enjoys a good story, if ya just want somethin that draws you in- everyone’s got different tastes, but to me this has its mass appeal for a reason. I’ve been through 12 books in the past month now, this is the best of ‘em by far. My only gripe would be that it defies plausibility, but that’s not really a legit complaint- that’s what you get with these kinda books, it’s par for the course. Might as well say the Mission Impossible movies aren’t realistic- like, no crap man. Five stars, let the haters hate.

I enjoyed this book as it piqued my inner geek about government agencies and science.
Sebelum masuk Bab 75 di halaman 359, saya berpikir buku ini hampir sama menyedihkannya dengan Digital Fortress yang dengan serunya mengumbar penguasaan teknologi canggih dari NRO atau NASA sekalian, tanpa memikirkan kepusingan pembaca :). Oh, sebenarnya ada bedanya juga, ding. Buku ini juga mulai memuat intrik politik yang tidak bisa disepelekan, yaitu persaingan menduduki kursi POTUS, alias President of The United States.
Nah, setelah hampir tiga minggu buku ini tergeletak di Jakarta, masuk Bab 75, saya mulai terjaga. Tidak lain dan tidak bukan karena "Insiden Roswell" 1947 disinggung di sini. Apa pun yang sebenarnya berlangsung di New Mexico itu, saya telah terlanjur suka serial TV "Roswell", dan sejak saat itu berpendapat bahwa kalaulah makhluk luar angkasa itu ada, mereka seharusnya terlihat seperti Jason Behr, Katherine Heigl atau Brendan Fehr, dan bukan seperti ET di film Steven Spielberg, hehe..
Hah, ngelantur! Balik lagi ke buku ini, memang Insiden Roswell ini yang mengerek saya memberi bintang dua ke bintang tiga. Sayangnya tidak ada makhluk luar angkasa yang tampil, bahkan serangganya yang sudah memfosil sekali pun tidak jadi muncul. Mumoung sedang disegarkan dengan kampanye capres Amerika Serikat tahun ini, satu hal membuat saya bingung: Kok bisa-bisanya Sedgewick Sexton maju sendiri menjadi kandidat serius penentang incumbent president Zach Herney? Tapi kalau seorang Ross Perot yang miliarder saja gagal jadi calon independen, bagaimana dengan Senator Sexton yang banyak hutang ini?
Lagi-lagi pertanyaan tidak penting karena bukunya sudah terbit bertahun-tahun lalu. :D
