Thank you, husband. I was about to have to start reading my entire library again because I ran out of new books. He knows I love adventure thrillers, which means, of course, I have a soft spot for Dan Brown's books. This was a delightful and quick read.
Deception Point is a suspense thriller. It intertwines classified intelligence and high-tech weaponry with presidential politics. From one moment to the next it is difficult to predict how any of the colorful characters will react or what choices they will make. It twists and turns and delivers a satisfying ending. I'm sure it won't be long before its coming to a theater near you.

This was one of the books that I really nerd out too. "Digital Fortress" is another one of those, but that was electronic and technology geeking out, this is science geeking out. Absolutely loved this I know everyone who reviews books says "I couldn't put this down!" thinking they sound so exuberant. But I really couldn't I'd try to at night, but wasn't not successful whatsoever. you just get so into that your mind stays inside "Deception Point" even when you've finished. This book makes you think and that is what I like most about Dan Brown's books, they aren't just going to outright tell whats going to happen, because usually some authors(forgive me) "suck" at foreshadowing. They make it too obvious so you aren't surprised. They can't even make a turn of events surprising either. But Dan Brown does this beautifully, you really think they're going to get out then BAM Rachael is on the brink of death fighting for her life. I have now read each and everyone of his novels and I wish he had more. Its going to be hard for an author to live up to this kind of factual novel.
My first Dan Brown! Wanted to dive in to his books based on how much I love the Da Vinci movie series. This book did not disappoint. Containing government conspiracy, new technology, and thrilling adventures, it was tough to put down. Anytime NASA and intelligence is involved it’s almost guaranteed to be a stellar novel.
I studied Rhetoric in college and I love the use of good rhetoric. With the politico in this book, it reminded me of studies in college. A lot of fun for me to read.
Not a rocket fast read! Not as good as Davinci Code, but much better than Digital Fortress (much much better!)
DNF'ed, nog geen vier pagina's in het boek was ik al meerdere seksistische opmerkingen/dialogen tegengekomen:
- 'mooi lijf,' fluisterde een van de gasten. 'Heeft sexton nu al een nieuwe vrouw?' 'Dat is zijn dochter, gek.' Antwoorde een ander. De man grinnikte. 'Sexton kennende zou hij haar net zo goed naaien, als het zo uitkwam.'
PARDON? EXCUSE ME? waarom zou het ooit nodig zijn om dit in een boek te schrijven.
- op pagina 9, begin hoofdstuk 1 word Rachel de vrouw waar het eerste stukje over ging, beschreven als een vrouw halverwege de dertig, dus ongeveer 35. Op pagina 11, halverwege hoofdstuk 1 word er dit gezegd: 'ik wil je een voorstel doen, zei senator sexton (haar vader dus). 'Laat me eens raden,' antwoorde rachel in een poging haar positie te versterken.' Een invloedrijk man die pas is gescheiden en op zoek is naar een jong vrouwtje?' 'Hou jezelf niet voor de gek, schat. Zo jong ben je niet meer.'
BOMBASTIC SIDE EYE. Opnieuw, waarom zou je dit in een boek schrijven?
Ik heb meerdere boeken van dan brown gelezen waar vrouwen op dezelfde manier werden "gezien" en "beschreven" maar dit boek was echt het ergst. Ik heb hoofdstuk 1 uitgelezen en het daarna in de prullenbak gegooid.
