Yo creo que se ha convertido en mi libro favorito, es muy triste pero muestra una parte de la realidad que vivieron y siguen viviendo las personas en Afganistán. La manera en la que el escritor narra te hace sentir los sentimientos muy vivos, me hubiera encantado que Maryam hubiera tenido un final bonito también. Sin duda es un libro que debemos de leer alguna vez en nuestra vida.

This is a story about war and love. It was beautifully written and absolutely heartbreaking. I learned a lot about the political unrest in Afghanistan in the 90s, specifically the brutality of the Taliban. Reading this in 2025, it is devastating that the hopeful note the book ended on was just that, hope, since the Taliban has regained control of the country. Laila and Mariam's relationship was beautiful, a found mother and daughter who push through a marriage that they have been forced into.
