I loved that this was about a little pocket of the world, and not trying to explain all of Norway or herself.

Blair Braverman is a great writer and has a lot of good stories to tell about her life. But I found myself wishing she had written a different book, or maybe I saw my own coming of age insecurities played out in a way that was uncomfortable. Overall a compelling story and worth overcoming cringe-y moments though.

Such a great read that combines travel with identity with trauma. It’s hard for me to fully describe the experience of reading it, but it’s a little like ice on a bruise — sharp and honest and real.

This was ok. My disappointment lies in the fact that I wanted more stories about the mushing and dog sledding. There is some of that but not very much. Felt more like a true-life coming of age, which I was not expecting.

I'll always like a book about cold places, but it really left me wishing that this was more about dogs than about toxic men.
