Cozy, cute, ADHD kittycat sci-fi. A bit of a slow start. I almost was questioning continuing in the first 15%, but it definitely picks up after that as new developments begin to appear in the plot and it stands at a solid four for me so I'm very glad I continued. Some of the babbling tangents Lily goes off on are ridiculous and funny, lots of questions and discussions on AIs and ethics, grief and depression, friendship and hope. The stakes never feel too high or stressful, there is absolutely a lot of easily accomplished solutions, so if you're wanting to see more struggle and realistic balance this might not be for you. This book was just such an cute and amusing adventure.

A hard read

As someone who normally reads mystery novels, I found this book very hard/frustrating to read. There is no over arching plot to drive the book. I feel like maybe it should have been 3 books: one to rescue Glitter, one about growing food and one about finding her sisters.

Other reviewers said this started as a serial which I can definitely see as many segments seem to have been written just to publish something. Really seems like the author had no idea what they wanted to do with the plot until about 90% of the way through and then kind of rushed it.

I would have given this book less stars but I was amused by several of Lily's ramblings.

I have recommended this a few times now as an unexpectedly accurate portrayal of ADHD. Little things like going from chore to chore, being driven by alarms, hyper focusing on stuff, going on constant random tangents, depression / fatigue lurking, etc.

The disjointed / episodic nature of the chapters threw me for a while. The pacing felt uneven, and many things seemed tossed aside. But, it was entertaining enough to keep me going, and stuck the landing IMO.

Interesting sci-fi story. Not what I would call the typical plot. Enough twists to keep you guessing on the plot, but not so many that you get lost.

So imagine a cat, a literal cat, not a humanoid cat person, becomes owner of a space station since all the humans onboard perished. And this also means she has control of Really Big Space Weaponry. Yeah, so, meet Lily. This all happened because she ended up outliving all the humans on the station. Oh yeah, she’s immortal.

This book follows Lily in an epic space opera as she overcomes the struggles of being a cat and not having thumbs while living in a satellite that was built for human-sized beings with thumbs. This is such a welcome addition to the sci-fi world because it is character driven with such good characters.

This book is pretty episodic by chapter which some may see as a con, but since this was my in-car book I had a really great time seeing what Lily was up to each day as I got in my car to drive somewhere.

I’m looking forward to reading more Argus in the future, their characters are just so engaging.
