I loved the lifestory and history. Understanding the atrocities South Africans went through in their own land.
However, towards the end I felt as if he was a kind of a sell out, someone who went against his earlier strong beliefs concerning Afrikaans. Him having secret talks with the enemies seemed suspicious to me.

Long but good.
A normal man with conviction for a better world can change the world through his every act.

Thorough and human, this autobiography captures life and struggle at a time that needs more of both. Flaws and failings are included alongside strength and growth. It is a complex and satisfying book that leaves the reader with lingering thoughts.

Easy to follow even for someone unversed in African politics. It was engaging throughout and moved along at a good pace. I was timid in beginning the book as it was so long but found myself speeding through it captivated by the narration and story.

I really enjoyed this book. It is super long and took me about a year to read off and on. He tells his story simply and doesn't paint himself as a hero. It is a very good book.
