Oh my gosh, this book has the potential to become a favorite for me! I was SO sucked into these characters and I wanted them to be together so bad. What kept it from being a favorite for me was how little we got to see them as a couple. I wanted just a little bit more because they have been keeping themselves from each other since they were in high school!

I had multiple issues with this title, but largely, the prose and the pacing were the killers for me. I felt like this book just dragged and dragged and yet, nothing really happened. When a major plot point did occur, it didn't really make an impact because I'd been anticipating it for so long.

Blind Kiss is the type of book that I can easily read in one day. It's so well written and the characters are easy to love (although quirky, Gavin was a hero I enjoyed being annoyed at while he stole my heart). It was angsty, but not completely stomp on your guts angsty (for me, anyway). I'd actually call it more frustrating with a good shot of complicated thrown in--a combination I adore in my reading.

The only thing I had a problem with was a couple of the circumstances surrounding the time jumps seemed a little unrealistic and I would have loved a less rushed ending. Besides that, this book had me completely enchanted, NEEDing to know what would happen next, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves to read about friendship and romance for which there are no guarantees, no matter how much you mean to each other.

I liked two things about this book. The voices of the man and woman who narrated the book and the fact she was a dancer (because dance is dear to my heart these days).

Everything else about this book just pissed me off. The miscommunication spanning 14 years. Ugh. I don’t know why I keep trying this author’s books. This is the 3rd one and I haven’t liked any of them. Her books just aren’t for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

RENÉE!! I HAVE SOME WORDS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!! This book was so emotionally frustrating and exhausting. Gavin was so pure and I would die for him. The ending was rushed but I loved this. Again, I’m never let down by Renée.

Unfortunately, Blind Kiss just wasn't the book for me. Dual POVs is a favorite of mine, so I really didn't mind the different points of view nor the jumping around between timelines.

I had a different idea of how the story was going to play out than it did and I think that threw me off. I needed a bigger reason for Gavin and Penny to not be together than the one given. It didn't make any sense to me. The angst and separation felt like it was just for the sake of angst, not for any bigger reason.

Possible spoiler: no names or specifics are given but a plot point is talked about here:
SpoilerThe only person I liked in the book ends up dying and honestly, I saw no purpose in that. This didn't help either of the main characters grow or move in a positive direction in my opinion. It seemed to affect two side characters more than Gavin or Penny. I don't know if it was just for shock factor or to give a somewhat plausible reason for Penny making a certain decision, but I just thought it was honestly pointless.

I also thought the writing was quite poor, which pains me to say because I know Carlino is a good writer. Her book Before We Were Strangers is one of my favorite books and I consistently recommend it to people. But unfortunately, that has been the only book I have loved by her. I've given her books a lot of tries. I've read 5 books by her now and only loved 1, which isn't a very good percentage. I'm not sure if there was a different editor on Before We Were Strangers or what, but I just kept thinking of all the ways I would change this book to make it better than it was. I wasn't immersed in the story like I am when I love a book.

Overall, this one just really missed the mark for me.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

“Life will change and then it will change again” this book made me angry in so many ways but the ending was worth it.

Omg why havent I read this book sooner?! 5 STARS all the way! I am in a huge book hangover after reading this one. I honestly did not want it to end and I wish this story would have a second book because thats how much I loved this story. Definitely one of my top new fav books of the year!! I absolutely love Renee's writing and I am so glad to have read this book.
I loved Penny and Gavin's relationship so much. I wanted nothing more then for them to be together. Sometimes though Penny made me mad because I wanted her with Gavin! Its one of those books that you just want to yell at the characters and tell them YOU NEED TO DO THIS!! :) Their connection over all these years was great and their love/friendship for each other was great.
I did tear up a few times too throughout this book so you know its good when you cry over reading a story!
Definitely recommend this book to EVERYONE!! Please read this. It is such a wonderful heartbreaking, loving, fun story to read.

Penny is a suburban housewife living in a McMansion and feeling completing unsatisified with her life. On the outside, she has the perfect life--a 14 year old genius who is going to MIT in the fall, an attractive husband, volunteering at her son's school, yet nothing feels right. She loves her son Milo dearly. But he will be leaving soon for college. Penny sits outside of a Subway that used to be the ballet studio she studied at in her youth. She dreams of what could have been before her dance partner dropped her tearing two of her tendons and ending her dancing career.

Gavin has been in the friendzone since shortly after he and Penny participated in a psych study to help out Penny's best friend Ling. Gavin and Penny were blindfolded and asked to kiss to determine whether people can have chemistry without the physical attraction. Gavin asked Penny out immediately after the study but Penny needed to focus on her studies and dancing. But a decision Penny made her senior year changed their relationship.

Gavin has always loved Penny even after the decision she made that changed their relationship. Now, the table have turned. It's Gavin's turn to decide whether their relationship can be pursued or if they will forever be stuck in the friendzone with each other even though they both have incedible chemistry together. But horrible timing. Will Penny find that something to fulfill the emptiness in her soul? Will Gavin make the same mistake that Penny did 14 years ago?
