I love the friends to lovers trope just like anyone else. I loved the way their friendship came so easily and how fast they became best friends and their love grew so fast and deep. I think the only flaw that i found in this book, and in most of Mrs. Carlino's female characters is self doubt and omg so much crying lol. I know that's a big part of the trope but damn it always feels like I (the characters) wasted so much time we could never get back. Either way im on a Carlino kick bc this is my 3rd book of hers I loved. Next?
Penny and Gavin’s friendship was completely inappropriate the entire time. Who spoons their guy ‘best friend’ when they’re married? They didn’t have anyone fooled with their ‘friendship’.
Still ate this shit up tho.

Amazing
Renee Carlino is one of the few authors that I will one click without reading the blurb. Her books have so much emotion and feels. This wasn’t your typical flowery romance where everything works out according to the formula, but it took me for a ride and I loved it.

Amazing amazing book. I swear this book made me feel ALL THE FEELS. Love, hate, sadness, joy and so much more! I COULD NOT put it down. Such a beautiful story and friendship, family life, love and heartache.
2.5
This book wouldn’t exist if the characters just sat and talked for 5 minutes straight without one of the two changing the topic like a 5 year old.
I still don’t understand Penny’s motives. Like, girl, you’re the only reason you were so unhappy the whole time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Gavin has been in love with Penny since they met in a psychology study doing a blind kiss as strangers. Fast forward 14 years & so much life lived in between & he’s still in love with her. This story bounces between present & multiple points in the preceding 14 years, their friendship & their lives unfolding as messily & disjointed as possible.
I found Gavin a bit annoying & Penny a bit flighty. The story was interesting but didn’t really DO anything. The overall plot & eventual ending were obvious to me from the start but I stuck with it to await any surprises. There weren’t many but again, it was interesting & entertaining. Not overly memorable but solid enough.

I have struggled with what to say about this book. I enjoyed it, but at the same time I kind of didn't enjoy it. It had some really great parts.
The premise of this book is great. I really loved the idea of the blind kiss and its profoundness. However, I wasn't a fan of how everything played out afterward.
This isn't a second chance romance. I would call it a million missed opportunities romance, to the point I was getting bored with the push and pull after a while.
I think my discord with this book had a lot to do with the characters. I just wasn't invested in Penny or Gavin. Their character development wasn't very strong. I couldn't really feel their connection. Maybe it was because this book was more dialogue driven. A lot of times getting to know characters and feeling chemistry falls in the inner monologue of the story, which was minimal in this one.
Overall, this isn't a bad book. It is pretty good. It definitely isn't one of my favorites of Carlino's, that is for sure. I can see many loving it. I am just hanging out in the middle. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

every single renee carlino book is about two people who aren’t together for no GOOD reason. it’s the dumbest and most frustrating trope. can you come up with something else!!!
