Rapha and Jae
PLEASE be aware that this review is meant for my own purposes only in order to help me recall this book and is in no way a reflection of what I think anyone else will like or want out of a book. It is simply a memory aid and a rough voice-to-text which is completely unedited/reviewed for errors. Read at your own discretion.
Raphael (lead singer in a famous rock band) meets Jae (Kpop band) briefly and becomes obsessed with him. Rapha has always been straight and us engaged to a famous actress. When the chance to get to know Jae comes up he can’t resist. We know from the very beginning that it all works out because the book starts with a “current day” interview. The spicy scenes are great imo because of all the pining leading up to them. The relationship is a bit harder to fully get behind as it is a lust at first sight, bi awakening, with a language barrier. But, I enjoyed it despite the problems.

DNF @ 37%
I feel like I've read a thousand pages in these 37% . The pacing is very sloooooooow with nothing really happening.
I'm not invested to know what happens. I can take a guess though so I'm throwing in the towel.

why hadn’t i read this sooner?
another book that’s been sat on my tbr list for the longest time and i am once again shocked at how much i fell for this book. this felt like probably the most intimate and personal book i have ever read -the writing was extremely stunning like I thoroughly enjoyed this and the pace of it was perfection. nothing felt rushed, i found the fascination and obsession rapha had with jae actually pretty endearing, his internal thoughts actually made me like him a whole lot. not only did he have me giggling but he had me feeling every emotion with him.
i am an absolute sucker for broken boys and these two fit the bill completely. jae was simply stunning? i can’t put into words how much i felt for him and his need to protect himself from his feelings that were truly scary for him -his way of life and culture, is so different from rapha, i get why he was so cautious about letting him in. he was written beautifully and i am slightly obsessed with them both. what a combo?
but more than the characters, i am mostly just hooked onto the writing style and how everything has such fluidity and made me feel like i was witnessing this romance first hand. i felt immersed into it and I enjoy when a book can do that to me -usually i’m rating on vibes but this book definitely was more then just vibes. i would say it’s definitely one of my favourite reads of the year. truly beautiful.
i’m looking forward to reading some more of scarlett drake. especially her next wip involving a ballet dancer? give me the eff now. <3

I have read over 130 books this year and let me tell you…some of them spoon feed you scenes in the most basic way and then there are authors like this…..that sing it to you opera style to a point where you feel like you’re very existence is in the room with these characters. This was absolutely BEAUTIFUL

Great writing and good audiobook performance. If you like k-pop, you'll probably enjoy this world. Lots of angst, push-pull and it does get a bit more unbelievable towards the end. Still enjoyed it

Absolutely Amazing
My new favorite book!
Sweet, vulnerable, hot, funny, open, introspective...this book has it all. I was unexpectedly blown away and did not expect to love it so much. I have been thinking about it every second since I started.
