I went into this not knowing what to expect. I mean the concept of a book based off on romance revolving a kpop idol could be either a hit or miss. Seeing the rating I gave it, it was definitely a hit!
Now, this wasn't the perfect book by any means. There are some errors in it (typos) that I wish could've been cleared but they're mostly in the first chapters and don't appear later on, and besides it's an indie author so this isn't a deal breaker for me. Does the story feel like a fanfiction at some times? Yes it does! But that was exactly what scratched some itch for me so I'm not complaining.
What I would complain about was how the book didn't feel realistic in terms of how everything worked out too nicely in the end. I mean, the woman who got cheated on and betrayed just moved on so easily and was so understanding and caring towards the MMC who was a bastard to her? Jae, after spending the entire book tormenting over the harsh criticism he would face upon the revelation of his relationship with Rapha, just had it so easy too - both with his own reaction to the news being out and the reaction of the company AND the public. It's unrealistic how easy it was all, how unproblematic and smooth it all went. Especially after we spent the whole book going over the what ifs of this outcome.
Also, I think this book is a bit longer than necessary but we move!
Now, about the things I loved - first, I loved how we followed Raphael's story as a rockstar and focused a lot on his personal life before we even got the first interaction of him and Jaehyun. I found that aspect of the book really interesting and I liked finding out more about him the more the story went.
I also like this entire concept of before, after and feat Jaehyun. I think it suits the book so well and it was so nicely done, besides it's a unique way to show different timelines.
I did love Jaehyun and Raphael as a couple too. While Raphael's obsession with Jaehyun felt like too much at times given the circumstances, it didn't feel out of place or like it was unrealistic. That's one thing I could see the logic behind and besides, the book made it go the slow burn way despite the instant attraction so I find this perfect!
I was kept at my toes wondering whether or not our mmcs will end up together and I'm so glad they did. I wish the prologue was a little more different than what we saw, a little more Jae and Rapha (and maybe Lili) centric but that's okay, I still liked seeing them finally happy and free together.
It's such a shame that the next book in the series doesn't follow anyone from the K:OS or the TDP band. I think it would've been so fun and I would've immediately picked up such a book. I wonder if the next book is set up in the same world and has some JaeRapha references at least?
Anyways, I really enjoyed this book and had so much fun with it. I'm glad I got to read it, it'll definitely be one of my most memorable reads of the year.

The only thing that dampened my enjoyment of this book was the fact that Rafael cheated on his girlfriend, and refused to respond to her calls for a significant part of the story . He should have broke up with her much sooner. Other than that, I think the book is a very interesting look at K-pop Idols' lifestyle and the restrictions on their freedom.

I loved how well the couple communicated with each other. They both made their insecurities and their feelings well known to the other person and it made for a very enjoyable book. I loved their chemistry and it was clear that it was more than just an obsession for Raphael. They resolved all of their issues within a reasonable time frame and I thought that made for a very good ending. I do think that the 3rd act conflict was slightly unnecessary and the way the MC handled it was silly, hence the 4 stars. But I have no notes on Jaehyun. I don’t know anything about Kpop but I imagine that his reservations and concerns and the way he handled them were very realistic for someone in his position.
