There were parts of this book that had me fully absorbed: when Ramses and another mummy each awaken to the modern world, and learn its ways with their preternatural adaptability while falling in love with their respective mortals.
There were parts that drove me crazy with frustration: Ramses creating so many problems for himself and others by sprinkling his immortality elixir all over the place--creating a garden of immortal plants, a reanimated mummified hand that he then chucks into the ocean (which is how he solves most of his problems), and finally raising from the dead someone from his past who explicitly did not consent to being immortalized. Now that person is an unstoppable force of destruction and chaos leaving behind a trail of murders and robberies.
I am on the fence as to whether I will continue the series. It was enjoyable but I don't know how invested I am.
