I can't rate this book. I loved the opening a lot!!! But there was just something about the audiobook narrators voice that just put me on edge and I couldn't finish listening. Maybe I'll try the written version someday.

Book #17 Read in 2015
By Book or By Crook by Eva Gates

This is the first book in a new cozy mystery series. I knew I would love it since it's set in a library, has Jane Austen's books at its center and there is a library cat named Charles after Charles Dickens. I was not disappointed. This book had good twists and turns which kept me guessing the killer's identity to the very end. The library staff characters were interesting and engaging. The setting of both the library (in a lighthouse) and the town (small, beach town) were great to read about and visit. I enjoyed this book a lot and will read book #2, out in September. I borrowed this book from my public library.

I liked this book. I think the setting was wonderful and the descriptions of the library, the books, the characters.

Love that this book takes place in a lighthouse library. So cool that the library has a little apartment. That right there is perfect for me along with the books! I really liked this first book in the lighthouse library series. Lucy is a neat character. I like her librarian expertise and the Jane Austen references were great! All the other librarians were good characters as well. Perfect cozy.

Fun enough cozy mystery. As usual for a cozy, our heroine does some really dumb stuff in the name of investigating. Looks like it’s being set up for a possible love triangle in the future, but fortunately the potential romance was just pretty background here. Overall I enjoyed it enough that I’d give the next one a try.

First time reading a book by Eva Gates. Very enjoyable and easy to read. Couldn't figure out who the killer was until near the end when revealed. I'm looking forward to Book 2
