Librarian murder mystery fluff.

My favorite genre books are either fantasy, mystery or SF. This book covers two, fantasy and mystery, there are no ghosts or other supernatural creatures the fantasy comes from the circumstances of a book loving librarian.
Lucy the librarian in question, moves to the outer banks to work in a library and what a library it is, a working lighthouse and not only does she get to work in such a beautiful location, she actually lives in the lighthouse with the library cat. Now tell me is that not a single book loving persons best fantasy, it sure is mine!
The book itself is a fun and fast read, perfect for the beach, as you can build that lighthouse in your head just feet from where you are tanning.

The first in a new series, set in a library housed in a lighthouse In the Outer Banks. Lucy has left Boston, and her job at the Harvard University Library, to work as a librarian in the town she used to visit during summers. A murder takes place, as well as the theft of two valuable Austen books. Fun characters contribute to this new cozy mystery series.

Ok… I don’t hate the book, it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. What it was though… was exactly what I needed it to be. A cozy mystery I could listen to, miss 10 minutes because I was too busy with work and not really need to rewind.

The mystery itself is fine but it’s clear the author is trying to emulate Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. She doesn’t quite get there, at all.

Like I said, the book isn’t bad but it wasn’t what I needed to be.

Charles was the best character though. 🐱

Very good. Interesting characters & love the idea of a library in a lighthouse

This is a solid cozy mystery, and I liked the setting of a lighthouse on the NC coast. There was a lot more library talk than I expected, too (which is a good thing). I enjoyed reading the snippets about librarians busting their butts to put on a special exhibition and workshop. I could do without the love triangle, but at least the book has two likeable love interests in addition to a yoga-doing head librarian I'd be friends with :)

3.5- loved the beginning and getting to know the protagonist and her unique setting. But the plot was a bit too wordy and I was able to skip large portions in the middle without missing a beat. Will try the next book in the series when it's published.

Can’t say it was anything special, but I might come back and read book two. I think it may have just been a little awkward getting all the characters the author wanted introduced to us.

A passable cozy mystery, but not one I'd read more of. The mystery held together well enough, but I didn't really feel like the main character actually solved it. There were also a few small details that suggested that the author had never really spent time on a beach (sitting on the same with your feet in the water is not something you can do without having, intermittently, either nothing or your entire lower half in the water), despite the fact that the setting is in the Outer Banks. Other setting details (location names, etc.) seemed accurate based on my single visit.
