This book continues the gripping journey of Ayna and Myron in the Wings of Ink series. Stripped of her magic, Ayna finds herself trapped and facing an enemy determined to make her pay. Meanwhile, Myron, who survived, battles his way toward her, but both must navigate dangerous alliances and heartbreaking choices. The story is filled with suspense, betrayal, and a deep emotional pull as they fight to reunite. Steffort's writing is captivating, with strong character development and intense world-building. This is a must-read for those who enjoy romantic fantasy. I eagerly await the next installment!

Did I absolutely speedread this book? Yes. This follow up to Wings of Ink was a fast-paced read that jumped between the different paths our MCs are on as they race to find each other. Steffort really ups the tension and the drama by layering new foes and betrayals to the story. Ayna, as an FMC, is a fighter and I love that she might be down, but she always gets back up a little bit stronger. I have some new favorite characters that I am just hoping survive what is to coming in the next book. I loved seeing the return of some characters from other books and the crossover connections as well.

Overall, a wonderful follow-up to this action-packed series.

Another enjoyable read but didn't really pull me in, ended in another cliffhanger. Don't know if I care to continue the series but I can definitely see why others like it so much.

Heart of Night hurt my heart (a lot) as we follow Myron and Ayna as they’re apart after the brutal ending of book 1. I couldn’t wait for them to finally be reunited! The wait was torture, but it paid off. Through this process, we find new characters to both hate and love, and we get to see more of the world. I especially loved Kaira and loved the plot twist that involved her! I wish I could say more about it, but that would be a spoiler.

Most of all, there is a whole lot of political intrigue as Ayna finds out things about her family and her past that she wasn’t expecting at all—and frankly, neither was I! I was pleasantly surprised, and I’m also excited for my pirate Crow Queen.

For this second book I opted to listen to the audiobook, since it was available. I loved the narrators so much!

Heart of Night was a great sequel, adding new elements to elevate this dark romantasy series that is perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash!

I personally found this installment to be a bit slower compared to the first book, but in no way was this a filler book. It offered the opportunity to spend more time with the characters, getting to know the familiar ones more, and also meeting new, interesting ones--both among the ranks of heroes and villains. In that regard, I really loved the deeper exploration of the political intrigue. Did it cause heartbreak? Absolutely. But it's worth it!

Fast paced, swoony moments, steamy reunions, and unexpected revelations. I liked that this had bigger stakes than book 1, there are multiple villains to content with, political schemes, and secrets revealed. I liked the new allies Anya had, and how they worked together to form escape plans. Looking forward to book 3!

"If I were you I'd hand over the women he's ready to destroy the world for or he might let you live just long enough to see the rest of it crumble to pieces before he takes you out slowly and painfully"

"You bring me to life, Anya. Your presence alone makes every last part of me be the best version it can be"

Just read it

Loved it just as much as the first book. All I want is more books that will build on all the other characters. The small details of budding relationships has me intrigued.
