Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I really enjoyed reading this. The action starts off immediately, and I loved how the story unfolded. Brie is a great main character, her confidence in herself grows as the story progresses, and she becomes an amazing headstrong character. The magical system was easy to follow, and the powers of the blameless were very interesting. I loved that even though this was a short story, a lot was packed in. I am definitely excited to see where the rest of the series goes! Also, Kove, Flinton, and Derek are such cinnamon roll characters!! I would definitely recommend picking up this book!

Are you kidding me? This is a debut Novel?

SOLID MIDDLE GRADE.

I know this isn’t my usual fantasy grade level, but I was sold on the idea and I think it is great for this age group. Keeping that in mind as I read led to a good reading experience and I’m excited for book two.

Briana, our lovely FMC, was wonderful. I loved that she acted and responded appropriately for her age group, but that it also didn’t bring on any annoyance. She’s going through a lot of growth and processing very hard things. I also loved that she wasn’t immediately good at everything, I liked seeing her learn new things and how to handle her power.

Her found family group was full of the kindest souls. I loved seeing them all together and enjoyed the lighter dynamics they brought to the table. There’s great father-like figures and friends Briana’s age that she’s able to connect with.

I enjoyed the plot and getting some snippets of the antagonists point of view to see inside his mindset too. There’s plenty of action and moments that keep those pages turning.

Overall audience notes:
- Middle Grade Fantasy
- Language: none
- Romance: none
- Violence: low-moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of family, small battle themes, weapons, physical and magical violence

This book was a happy surprise, thank you to the author for sending this book to me to read...

If you're looking for a middle grade fantasy series with light Christian themes, this is it. Filled with intense action but also filled with a lot of heart and humor. I especially loved the characters of the three "Uncles". The banter and love they had for princess Brie was so sweet and wonderful. I can't wait to read the sequel.

Princess Brie finds herself on the run for her life, her family is gone and she has nowhere to turn. Soldiers are on the hunt for her. Until a mysterious stranger and his friends find her and take her to a mysterious land where she finds out she is "gifted". Will she be able to claim back her throne and defeat the bad guys?

I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the beginning. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

It's nice to read without any expectation and that is how I started out this book and I ended up liking it.

It started out strong with chaos and a runaway princess meet with three powerful strangers that help her to safety and slowly discovering that she is actually has something more than meets the eye.

I really like the idea plot about the blameless and their unique gifts. However, a lot of the blameless has different gifts which makes it a bit hard to remember which gift belong to which character, but it is what makes the story interesting to read. I have to admit the pacing is a bit slow, it seems the author really want to build Briana's character slowly but I still enjoyed in nonetheless.

I really like the characters especially Brie. It's hard to believe sometimes that the main character is only fourteen years old which is way younger than me right now and based on how she thinks and acts sometimes I think she might be older than the current age she is now.

What really surprise me more is that I thought this one is a standalone. However, the villain is still alive and undefeated by the end of the book made me realized this is book one of the series.
I checked on the author's social media and I have to wait till next year to get the second book!

Overall, it was pretty good and interesting. I enjoy my time reading this one. It definitely has the potential of a good series and I am curious to find out what happen next on Briana's journey.
