I listened to the audiobook version of this book. Amber and Adriaan's journey is emotional, full of ups and downs, romance, pain, and some very difficult situations. There is a lot of character growth throughout the story. On the other hand, the story seemed a bit too long, and Amber sometimes came across a bit immature but Adriaan had the patience of an angel. Their love is forbidden as it they are patient/therapist which gave the story a bit of a flare. The narration by Cristal Sipple-Underwood was very well done. Her tone and voices were really good and kept me engaged.

5 stars! Set in the Netherlands but handles tough topics with ease and care. Check TWs for sure! It felt like Amber’s situation was so relatable and you rooted for her during the entire story and her journey. However.. Adrian will hold a special place in my heart. His patience and kindness alone was great.

This story was heartbreaking, while at the same time filled with happiness. I felt for the main character, Amber. It just seemed like she couldn't catch a break. She was dealing with so much and trying her best to push past it and heal from it. I enjoyed following her journey as she healed from events in her life and overcoming those struggles the best she could. I think my favorite character is Adrian. I loved him! He was sweet, comforting, and so patient.
