I think I got some of the point of this but it was buried under a lot that I didn’t get or enjoy. I thought I would perhaps enjoy Kafka more outside of English class, but nope. I am clearly just not on his wavelength.

This work, like all of Kafka makes you feel like you’re living a nightmare. Given that this seems like his goal, it is well done. Just not for me. 

This book was not actually completed before Kafka passed away and it shows. The novel feel well written at times but totally disjointed at other times. Complex relationships feel like they are flat and major plot points feel they are missing content. It was not by any stretch of the imagination terrible but also not a joy to read. If dipping your toe into Kafka’s writing I wouldn’t recommend starting here.
