Sono diversi anni che dedico il mese di Gennaio alla conoscenza del passato e alla sensibilizzazione sul tema dell'odio razziale. Non solo per riportare in luce gli orrori del passato ma per prendere maggiore consapevolezza sulla vita, su ciò che l'essere umano è capace di fare.
Ricordare è un'espressione di umanità, è segno di civiltà.
Per me è diventato un impegno che intendo portare avanti. Coltivare la memoria e condividerla.
Anche durante l'anno aderisco a proiezioni cinematografiche, dibattiti, letture di brani e lettere, visite nel ghetto ebraico (l'anno scorso sono entrata per la prima volta in Sinagoga) e tutto quanto ciò che onora le vittime della Shoah e la loro meravigliosa cultura.
Quelle testimonianze che ci aiutano a capire e a non dimenticare. Come quella di Dora Bruder.
Non avevo mai letto nulla di Modiano. Questo libro è un'indagine, un riscatto dall'oblio e una scomparsa circondata dal mistero e dalla crudeltà di un'epoca non troppo lontana. Sembra una storia perduta viste le poche tracce lasciate per le strade di Parigi ma lui esegue uno scrupoloso lavoro da archivista, e piano piano riesce a raccogliere alcuni frammenti per ricostruire la storia di Dora. Una ragazzina, ribelle e volitiva, scomparsa durante l'occupazione tedesca.
A lei vengono restituiti da Modiano la dignità, il rispetto e soprattutto il diritto di esistere che la vita le ha negato.

The streets of Paris as empty for missing these people. writing for the lost voices. The author of Au Bord de la Nuit who wanted to capture beauty and was beaten to death.
Dora's attraction her rebel nature; her ability to keep secret parts of her life; the author's inability to touch that. Being haunted by the absence of missing people. Writing to change minds, bring understanding, make those who maligned the Jews rescind.
