This was good! It was a very great insight to the world of midwifery and 1950's nursing. As a nurse, I found this all very interesting!

As someone who watches the show, I'm very pleased to know that the show, to the point I've seen, has remained very close to all the stories that Jennifer Worth shares in her books.

Another comment to add here: while these books are real life stories and experiences for Jennifer Worth, they read like a fabulous fiction. It was great for me because I was able to read this book more quickly than most nonfictions I've read.

Overall, a great read. Funny and at times sad. Highly recommend!

Although I enjoyed the content of this book I found it a bit of a hard slog to read. Won't be reading the second book but have already started the series!

The PBS series was recommended to me but I read the book instead. A fascinating glimpse into the east end of London in the 1950s and the lives of women at the time. Vignettes ranged from humorous to touching and heartbreaking.
