I loved Boy Snow Bird but in short story form I definitely had more trouble following Oyeyemi. A few of the stories I really loved a few I probably need to read 3 or 4 more times to fully grasp.
While these stories often have an almost childish quality to them, fairytale-like, these are not easy to read and will definitely make you think. Lots of symbolism here and common themes that play out throughout the collection. Would be a great collection for a group discussion! I'll be reading this book again down the line and I'm sure when that happens I'll get even more out of it.
I found myself skimming through stories to try and finish them faster. They just weren't my kind of stories. Too vague

A beautiful collection of short stories centered on finding truth, human connection, and accepting what you cannot have. Beautifully written and deeply magical, even in the most mundane moments!
y’all know I love a weird interconnected book about doors, bonus points for the puppet element
Reading this book is like riding the teacups at Disney and switching to a different seat every few minutes. Dizzying and delightful.
