During the Covid pandemic, I have had trouble with heavy reading. This is frothy, definitely, but I am ready for something that offers a little more depth.
1. The daughter drives me crazy with her bratty entitlement.
2. I'm not really a fam of changing the names to match the show and crafting the premise of the book around that/ working in bits of reality. It's just weird.

3.5 stars - I did not read "Younger" and it seems like that was a perfectly fine thing to do. Interesting story with some interesting characters. Pretty light subject matter.
I LOVED this show and was so disappointed by this sequel. None of the characters were developed and I didn’t like any of them. It was a badly written book about the struggle between SAHM and working Moms and the conclusion romance came out of nowhere. Not to mention the AWFUL CRINGY sex scene with unnecessary detail. Ew. I am not a quitter so I finished but it was a struggle
I recognize the challenge of trying to bridge the worlds of the original book & the tv show adapted from it (and grown in lots of new/different directions) but it feels like there isn’t the level of spirit & character of either of those creations in this compromise one.
I have not read Younger, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this title. Enough information about past relationships is included that you can read this as a stand-alone novel.
As someone who has entered midlife (hello 50!), I can so relate to some of the struggles Liza has. The desire to remain young, but recognizing that your experiences shape your perspectives with the need to embrace your age to live a full life.
I can not say that some of the reckless behaviors exhibited by her in this novel are ones I'd do, but I can relate to the desire to live life to the fullest and include experiences you might have previously shunned.
Overall a quick fun read which many a woman in midlife can appreciate.

It's almost 1am. I stayed up to finish the book even though I work tomorrow. What does that tell you?
Listened to this on Audible. Fun & light w/relatable characters. The plot was a bit thin for me, but very glad I listened. Plan on watching the series now!
Enjoyed it, but the magic of the TV show was lacking. Could've been the setting and the fabulous fashion there - and also the fact that Charles actually existed there - but just being in the whole Liza POV throughout felt a little constricted. Her daughter also turned out to be a nightmare in this sequel, which really killed the vibe at times
Still, for nostalgia's sake, if you enjoyed the TV show, check it out. Lots of little Easter eggs to be found throughout
