He's a good storyteller but his writing is like nails on a chalkboard, faux edgy, and the characters themselves aren't very compelling. But he's a good storyteller... Not very happy that I paid full price for this, though.

Based on the amount of hype surrounding this book and the number of great reviews I had read before picking this up I had expected this book to be more than just meme-filled, childish, immature humour. 12 year old me would have loved this books and it's constant dick jokes but I was honestly quite disappointed.

partway through, I was still thinking to myself 'just remove all the r slurs' and this could be a fun and gripping, silly lil romp. I'm a sucker for a wild yarn so the wackiness kept me engaged, however, the painful 2000s edgy 'humour' throughout really grated.
at brief points where the book steered clear of punching down, it had pretty funny moments, but there was no need for this book to be so long.
for some reason I finished the book and it fully just rambled and sucked towards the end. time to track down whoever persuaded me to read this and never take a rec from them again.
