Pretty interesting story. I didn’t know any history ahead of time so I found it quite shocking at the age difference and how young she was when Elvis pursued Priscilla. I read this thru Audible and listening to Priscilla read the story and her constant giggles was endearing and cute. She is proud of her story with Elvis and u can tell in the writing of this book. I often think she flattered him a bit too much but it’s her story to tell. Interesting for sure.
A gothic horror story of oppression under patriarchy, told in the chirpy voice of someone who wants us to believe it is a sweet romantic fairy tale. Extremely disorienting. Nauseating.
It was a slog and felt like it was written by a child. I appreciated that the story was told mostly chronologically, but it wasn’t enough to make me like it more. Also learned a lot about Elvis the man, and though she states in her epilogue that she told their story to combat all the negative stories from people who thought they knew Elvis, it didn’t counter that at all. In fact, I felt disappointed to learn that he wasn’t a great guy and was borderline abusive, if not physically but emotionally and mentally.

It’s like your sweet grandma telling you a story and it’s one of the top 5 most distressing things you’ve ever heard that also shaped her into the icon she is
High points:
-Priscilla at one point just describes to the reader what a Madonna-Whore Complex is. Awesome
-A pregnancy weight management philosophy that will make you surprised Lisa Marie made it out of the womb
-Priscilla absolutely formed an affair and coaching relationship with the karate instructor featured momentarily in the film adaptation that convinced her that her life and passions and interests were worthwhile
-“Fidelity was very important to him, especially on the woman’s part”
-“I was unsure of my appearance, the last time Elvis had seen me I was 14 years old and five pounds lighter”
-She loved him

Fascinating look behind the sunglasses of one of the world’s most well known couples. Tender, honest and never dull.
